Structural Steel Special Inspector – Nashville, TNTLL is searching for a Structural Steel Special Inspector to join our Nashville team. This role will be responsible for performing visual inspections and nondestructive testing on construction projects throughout Tennessee.
Primary Responsibilities- Performs Special Inspections of Structural
- Performs visual inspections (VT) of Structural welds to ensure they conform to applicable standards. American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector would be a plus but not required.
- Perform Nondestructive Testing in following methods:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant testing (PT). - Inspect structural steel/bolting to applicable codes.
- Basic computer skills and related technology.
- Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintain cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.
- Prepare daily reports and information for clients. Operates with moderate supervision.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficient in reading drawings, plans, and/or blueprints
- Nondestructive Testing Certification ASNT Level I or II Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector Certification preferred
- ICC Structural Steel Welding and Bolting Certification.
- Ability to communicate professionally, orally and in writing
- Basic computer skills and related technology
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record. Drug‑free workplace.
- Perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs
- Ability to operate aerial lifts and work at heights
- Possess sufficient stamina to work in an outdoor (hot & cold) environment
