Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

The CWI is responsible for employing their knowledge and training of welding processes, test methods, discontinuities, materials, qualifications, and standards to ensure that weldments and weld-related activities comply with all applicable quality and safety criteria at multiple construction projects throughout the Greater Nashville area
.

This is a full-time, year-round position - it is not tied to a single project or for a defined period of time. We are not hiring for a traveling or temporary pipeline project and therefore are not offering per diem or a short-term/project rate
. The ideal candidate will be based in the Greater Nashville area and open to performing construction materials testing (CMT) tasks as needed when welding inspection work is not active or currently needed.

Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skillset, experience, qualifications, and other job-related duties.

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations
• Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, as well as occasional plant inspections
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections
• Able to issue and follow up on non-conformances until the close out
• Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component
• Reviews all welded products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept or reject the product
• Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications
• Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
• May also, operates testing equipment and conducts testing, (example: Soil, concrete or other) and provides assessment of data through reporting
• Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results
• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Must have AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required
• Must be available for long-term, stable employment (not temporary or singular project-based assignments)
• Must be willing to perform construction materials testing as needed
• Ability to read blueprints and understand, and interpret tolerances
