Overview
Collier Engineering is seeking an experienced Project Surveyor (LSIT) to support our Survey Department and help develop the department to align with Collier Engineering’s Vision of improving Middle Tennessee communities. We are looking for a driven individual with a background in field survey work relating to boundary surveys, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, construction stakeouts, deed research, plotting deeds, and preliminary boundary resolutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Carlson Survey & Autodesk Civil 3D Software. We prefer a candidate with Autodesk Civil 3D software suite experience.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability, make independent judgment calls, take ownership of assigned tasks, and work well in a team.
Desired Skills and Experience- 1-3+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Skilled in use of GPS devices and data collectors
- Ability to use Field-to-Finish principles/processes in Civil 3D and/or Carlson Survey. Civil 3D processes are preferred.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of land surveying
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications, plans and regulations.
- Ability to operate motorized equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
- Flexible work schedule and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Valid Driver’s License
- The ability to qualify for insurance through our Fleet Program.
- Prepare land surveys to meet client regulatory and financier requirements.
- Prepare surveys, exhibits, ALTA surveys, and Legal Descriptions.
- Perform quality control reviews of survey deliverables.
- Mentor and develop survey specific skillsets with the Department.
- Read and interpret legal descriptions and title work.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying from an accredited college/university or a degree program that will be approved by the Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors.
- Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) registration in the State of Tennessee or another state that can be transferred to Tennessee.
- Strong knowledge of state boundary survey terminology and legal aspects of boundary surveying, including laws, statues, and ordinances.
- Ability to lead and/or participate in discussions during client consultations and project team meetings.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and stand or walk for long periods.
- Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of surveying equipment over rough and steep terrains.
- Ability to travel for short periods of time as needed. Adequate notice will be given to coordinate/plan family responsibilities.
- Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US. Collier Engineering will not sponsor or take over sponsor ships of an employment Visa at this time.
