The Accounting Director provides strategic direction and oversight of corporate accounting and financial risk management functions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal financial controls. This role is responsible for general ledger accounting, financial reconciliations, actuarial reporting, and staff development while partnering with senior leadership and external auditors. Additionally, the Accounting Director plays a key role in financial reporting accuracy, risk assessment, and the continuous improvement of processes to enhance financial integrity.

• Serve as a consultant to senior management and external auditors on US GAAP compliance and financial representation.
• Lead the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and reconciliation.
• Oversee internal controls, financial policies, and documentation of business cycle processes to maintain compliance.
• Collaborate with claims, risk management, and legal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and actuarial assessments.
• Hire, develop, and mentor accounting staff while driving succession planning and enterprise risk assessment initiatives.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree – Accounting, Finance or similar
• Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

• Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience with Big 4 or National CPA Firm; mix of public accounting and industry experience acceptable
• Experience in or exposure to insurance and/or healthcare industry required.

Licenses/Certifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
