SHR Talent is partnering with a client in the Nashville, TN area in its search for a Finance Manager.
The Finance Manager is a key leadership role and succession hire, supporting the transition of the company’s current finance leader as they approach retirement. The Finance Manager will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, providing hands‑on financial oversight, insight, and operational support across the organization.
As the Finance Manager, you will oversee core financial operations while acting as a strategic advisor to leadership and will balance hands‑on execution with financial leadership, serving as a steward of financial accuracy, compliance, and business insight. The Finance Manager is a hybrid role, requiring three (3) days per week on‑site in the Nashville, TN area. The role requires high integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced, service‑oriented environment as well as strong business acumen, executive communication skills, and high level of discretion.
Responsibilities- Own and manage the company’s profit & loss (P&L), financial reporting, and performance analysis
- Provide cash flow analysis and financial insights to support leadership decision‑making
- Oversee commission accounting and receivables, including monitoring collection timing and revenue recognition
- Act as the final reviewer for financial accuracy, reporting integrity, and compliance
- Support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and long‑term financial planning insights
- Maintain awareness of IRS requirements, business law considerations, and financial compliance standards
- Extract, analyze, and report on financial data to support operational and executive needs
- Partner with cross‑functional leaders to support financial controls and approval processes
- Provide hands‑on support across Accounts Payable and Receivable, payroll coverage, and invoicing when needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required
- 8 – 12+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within a small‑to‑midsize organization
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or other accounting certification, a plus but not required
- Prior experience in a Finance Manager, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accounting role with profit & loss (P&L) ownership
- Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and cash flow management
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically pivot tables, lookups, and indexing functions
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, strongly preferred
- Proven ability to extract, analyze, and interpret financial data to support leadership decisions
- Experience with commission accounting, insurance brokerage, benefits, or service‑based revenue models, preferred
