Controller

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced accounting leader to manage financial operations and drive process improvements in a collaborative, mission-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee general ledger and month‑end close; ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements, variance analyses, and audit schedules.
  • Manage payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and fixed assets.
  • Supervise one team member and support tuition billing and financial aid processes.
  • Partner with leadership to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve issues and maintain strong financial stewardship.
Qualifications
  • 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience (3+ years in education or nonprofit strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of managerial experience
    .
  • Skilled in full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close; enjoys improving processes.
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud Financial Edge and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communicator, adaptable, and team‑oriented.
Compensation
  • Salary Range: $130,000–$135,000 annually (based on experience).
