Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support the Behavioral Health Service Line. This role is responsible for general accounting functions, including preparing and processing accounting data, maintaining ledgers, and analyzing financial and operational reports to support business decisions.
Responsibilities- Maintain direct accounting responsibility for Behavioral Health ledgers, including monthly journal entries, analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation
- Prepare and review Accounts Payable transactions, including Referral Source Check Requests
- Assist with tax work papers, cost reports, and audit documentation
- Monitor and manage a shared inbox, responding to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain daily financial reporting systems
- Ensure privileged and proprietary information is safeguarded
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the organization's Mission and Value Statement
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (required)
- 3-7 years of experience in financial accounting, finance, or a related field
- None required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel and Business Objects
- Knowledge of financial data collection techniques and interpretation
- Ability to navigate financial and analytical reporting systems
- Understanding of descriptive statistics to analyze data and prepare estimates
- Strong analytical, planning, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to examine financial documents and reports for accuracy
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, reconcile figures, and maintain accuracy
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Demonstrates understanding of organizational policies, procedures, and systems
- Requires extended periods working at a computer
- Must be able to perform effectively under tight deadlines and during peak workload periods
