Epidemiologist
Location:
Nashville, TN - Hybrid
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST (37.5 hours/week)
Duration: 12/15/2025 – 06/30/2026 (Potential renewal through 2029, pending funding)
Position Overview
The Epidemiologist will provide epidemiologic expertise and analytical support to the Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program (TUPCP) and the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant (PHHSBG). This role involves analyzing surveillance and program data, identifying trends and disparities, creating data visualizations and reports, and supporting evidence-based program implementation and evaluation across the state of Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities
Provide epidemiologic and analytical support to TUPCP and PHHSBG.
Analyze and evaluate program data to monitor performance metrics.
Conduct descriptive epidemiologic analyses and interpret findings.
Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations (Tableau preferred).
Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences, including program staff, leadership, and partners.
Design, update, and maintain data systems using REDCap.
Clean, manipulate, and analyze large datasets using SAS.
Ensure reports comply with data release and confidentiality guidelines.
Collaborate with program directors and communications teams to create infographics and data summaries.
Support program improvement through innovative data approaches and evaluation methods.
Ensure compliance with grant and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Proficiency in statistical analysis and software tools; SAS required.
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong experience in data visualization (Tableau strongly preferred).
Skilled in database management and REDCap system development.
Excellent oral, written, and technical communication skills.
Experience supporting and evaluating public health programs (preferred).
Education & Experience
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Health Informatics.
Substitution:
Master’s degree in Health Science, Biomedical Science, or Environmental Science with at least 2 years of experience in epidemiology.
Additional Information
Hybrid Role:
In-person attendance required on the first day (for laptop deployment and onboarding).
Quarterly in-person meetings and occasional professional development sessions required (non-reimbursed).
State-reimbursed travel for site visits when applicable
