Job Summary

Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties of a pharmacist with occasional guidance. Tasks contributed directly to the preparation and dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service, answers phone requests, triages calls, and applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.

Position Highlights
  • Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm.
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation.
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB or NHA.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by pharmacists and pharmacy managers in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
  • Responsibilities listed are general; additional duties may be assigned.
Technical Capabilities
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy:
    Basic understanding of computers and pharmacy applications.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution:
    Novice proficiency in reviewing, preparing, dispensing, and distributing prescribed medications, including asepsis for sterile preparations.
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance:
    Knowledge of rules and regulations, commitment to continuous quality improvement, and support of regulatory compliance.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management:
    Novice proficiency in managing drug inventory and maintaining records.
Position Qualifications

Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician – National Health career Association, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, or Tennessee License.

Experience Level: Less than 1 year.

Education: Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
