• Perform specimen processing, microbiology, serology, and infectious disease testing independently, including moderate and high‑complexity tests.
• Ensure specimen processing and testing are performed timely and comply with department policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
• Apply laboratory medicine concepts and use independent judgment and problem‑solving skills to ensure accurate test results and equipment performance.
• Understand and implement laboratory quality control and quality assurance management according to accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Act as a resource to peers and customers and model teamwork.
• Assist in orientation, training, and competency documentation of department personnel as requested.

• Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry (required). Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• National Certification as a Microbiology Technologist (required).
• State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory methods and correlation of disease states and results.
• General knowledge of laboratory accreditation, regulatory compliance, and billing guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills, effective teamwork, proactive problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work.
