Location:
Nashville, Tennessee. The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt seeks a Part Time Certified Pharmacy Technician to join their Outpatient Pharmacy team.
Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of a pharmacist’s duties. Tasks include preparation, dispensing, inventory control, customer service, answering phone calls, and triaging requests. The role is directly supervised by a pharmacist.
Position Highlights- Retail environment filling prescriptions, answering phone calls, setting up mail, and assisting patient families.
- Pharmacy hours of operation are 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.
- Position hours are Sundays 7:30 am – 6:00 pm plus one additional shift per week minimum.
- Previous fast‑paced pharmacy experience preferred.
- No drive thru, vaccine metrics, or working alone in this position.
- Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA.
- Assist the pharmacist in preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
- Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.
- Perform activities as directed by pharmacists or pharmacy managers in accordance with laws and hospital policies.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
- Operate computer systems and utilize technology.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
- Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness): basic understanding of pharmacy software.
- Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice): proficiency in reviewing, preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications.
- Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice): working knowledge of regulations and commitment to quality improvement.
- Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice): maintain appropriate inventory levels and manage records.
- Perform routine tasks that impact team performance, using discretion and research to solve problems.
- Apply knowledge of standards, processes, and procedures relevant to the job.
- Provide guidance to entry-level co‑workers.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician – National Health career Association, National Health Career Association, or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, licensure in Tennessee.
- Relevant work experience: less than 1 year.
- Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
