Job Summary and Qualifications

The Infection Prevention Coordinator promotes and delivers high quality, patient-centered care by assisting with the administration of Infection Prevention policies, procedures and programs. As a part of the Infection Prevention team, the Infection Prevention Coordinator identifies, investigates, reports, and monitors the incidence of hospital acquired infections among patients and personnel, and implements policies and procedures to prevent cross-contamination. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with in-service programs and orientation related to infection prevention, as well as collaboration with the Employee Health Program to reduce exposures and mitigate risk.

What

you will do in this role
  • Participate in infection prevention surveys and surveillance/rounding, based on the organization's risk assessment plan, in accordance with state, federal, and other reporting requirements.

  • Evaluate environment, practices, products, devices, and equipment as related to infection prevention.

  • Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods to identify target populations, determine risk factors, design prevention and control strategies, analyze trends and evaluate processes related to infection prevention.

  • Collect and analyze data related to infection prevention and control. Collaborate with Occupational Health to assess environment for injury/illness risks.

  • Implement epidemiologic investigation during the occurrence of infections and infection clusters.

  • Monitor and evaluate the efficacy of infection prevention activities, including methods of asepsis, sterilization, and disinfection.
