The Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program, housed in the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Section, seeks a Public Health Program Director to lead tobacco cessation initiatives for Tennessee residents. The role involves implementing evidence‑based interventions, coordinating stakeholders, and applying epidemiologic data to reduce statewide tobacco and vape use incidence.
Responsibilities- Provide subject matter expertise on the identification, implementation, and evaluation of tobacco and vaping cessation programs.
- Supervise the Pregnancy Smoking Cessation Program Director.
- Develop and deliver training and orientation for new program staff.
- Grow and support the implementation of the nicotine replacement therapy program in local and metro health departments, and other funded partners.
- Oversee, manage, and develop contracts with the Quitline service provider, the Tennessee Primary Care Association, and other cessation‑related partners.
- Participate in budget development and monitoring to ensure appropriate expenditure of funds.
- Provide technical assistance to grantees and partners across the state delivering evidence‑based programs.
- Communicate program procedures to staff and stakeholders.
- Plan and implement diverse professional development opportunities that meet grantee needs.
- Collect and maintain accurate grantee data and related statistical information for state and federal reporting.
- Produce and disseminate tobacco control resources and materials.
- Work with tobacco epidemiologists to use data to enhance community tobacco control program planning.
- Engage community stakeholders in tasks related to achieving goals and objectives of the program.
- Participate in regular division, section, and TUPCP program meetings.
