As an ESOP organization, MJM’s success is built on collaboration, trust, and shared stewardship. Our people don’t just work at MJM—they own it.

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Talent Manager to design and lead a comprehensive talent development system for the full employee lifecycle. From overseeing recruitment and onboarding to managing systems for learning, development, and retention this role is critical in shaping our evolving company as MJM expands into new markets while continuing our journey of employee ownership.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands‑on implementer who can align people systems with a growth mindset, foster a performance‑driven culture, and champion the values of an employee‑owned firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead firmwide recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning aligned with MJM’s strategic goals.
  • Partner with senior firm leaders to develop and implement retention strategies, including career development plans, mentorship programs, and employee recognition initiatives.
  • Partner with senior firm leaders to build strong pipelines through relationships with universities, associations, and industry networks.
  • Introduce structured, values‑based hiring, assessment, and onboarding processes to ensure cultural alignment.
  • Partner with senior firm leaders to develop an engaging onboarding experience that helps new employees quickly integrate into our culture, tools, and project workflows.
Grow| Development & Retention
  • Help design and manage programs for professional development, licensure support, and leadership readiness.
  • Partner with team leaders to align performance systems with cultural values and shared accountability.
  • Create clear, differentiated, development paths that extend employee growth and tenure at all levels and positions within the company.
Champion| Culture & Engagement
  • Serve as the firm’s cultural champion—reinforcing collaboration, candor, and shared stewardship.
  • Drive engagement, recognition, and inclusion initiatives that reflect MJM’s ESOP culture and values for both individual and team accomplishments.
  • Work with senior managers to develop and manage employee feedback systems (surveys, 360 sessions) that create actionable initiatives. Measure and report cultural and engagement metrics to leadership.
Measure| Organizational Systems
  • Strengthen HR systems, policies, and processes to support a growing multi‑office structure.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, job descriptions, and HR documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR and ESOP‑related requirements while maintaining a people‑first focus.
  • Establish metrics and frameworks to measure effectiveness of retention and engagement programs.
  • Partner with managers and senior leadership to support annual performance review cycles, compensation adjustments, and professional development tracking.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or Organizational Psychology (an advanced degree or professional certification such as SHRM‑CP, PHR, etc. is a plus).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR or talent acquisition/management experience, ideally in architecture, engineering, construction, or design.
  • Proven success developing and scaling talent systems in growth‑oriented environments.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and change management skills.
  • Deep understanding of employee ownership and culture‑building in professional services.
