RESPONSIBILITIES
Kforce has a client in Nashville, TN that is seeking a HPUX Administrator.
SummaryWe are seeking an experienced HP-UX System Administrator with a strong background in Perl scripting, job scheduling using Slurm and Cron, and familiarity with Progress
DB. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of our HP-UX environment while leveraging automation and scripting for efficient system management. The primary focus of this role is on maintenance activities, with a smaller component dedicated to development tasks.
- Administer and maintain HP-UX operating systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Perl to streamline system operations
- Manage and monitor job scheduling through Slurm and Cron, ensuring timely execution of critical processes
- Perform routine system maintenance, patching, and upgrades to maintain security and compliance
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
- Collaborate with application teams to support Progress
DB environments and related integrations - Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for operational consistency
- Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery exercises
- 5 years of experience as an HP-UX System Administrator or similar role
- Demonstrated experience managing and provisioning attached storage using Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), including configuration, mapping, and performance optimization in enterprise storage environments
- Strong proficiency in Perl scripting for automation and system management
- Hands‑on experience with Slurm and Cron job scheduling tools
- Familiarity with Progress
DB administration and troubleshooting - Solid understanding of system security, performance optimization, and backup strategies
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience with other Unix/Linux environments
- Knowledge of shell scripting and additional programming languages
- Exposure to high‑availability and clustering solutions
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
