Location: In-Office – Nashville, TN Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision Insurance, 3 weeks PTO, 8 paid holidays, employee events, bonus program, 401k with 4% match and company vehicle provided.

Role SummaryWe are seeking a Preconstruction Director to lead the preconstruction department and guide clients and internal teams from conceptual handoff through construction-ready execution. This person will own the preconstruction process, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule are clearly defined and communicated.
This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who can balance decisiveness with empathy, drive process improvements, and maintain high-touch client communication while supporting and developing an internal team. The position also offers the chance to grow into a broader leadership role within the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the preconstruction process for multiple custom residential projects
- Serve as the primary liaison between ownership, clients, architects, designers, and production teams
- Own client communication from concept handoff through construction start
- Oversee estimating, budgeting, and scope development
- Manage and support in-house architectural and design coordination resources
- Lead preconstruction and client meetings, ensuring clarity on scope, budget, and schedule
- Collaborate with trade partners and vendors to secure and negotiate pricing
- Improve and systematize preconstruction workflows and estimating processes
- Prepare complete, accurate job packages for handoff to the production team
- 7+ years of experience in residential construction, with a strong focus on preconstruction, estimating, and project development
- Custom residential remodeling experience strongly preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing
- Proficiency with Buildertrend or similar construction management software
- Advanced Excel skills for estimating and budgeting
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
