About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated Production Chemist to oversee and manage the synthesis and formulation of specialty chemicals at their facility in George . This role is critical for maintaining high standards of product quality and production efficiency. You will work closely with the R&D department on scale‑up processes and ensure that all production activities adhere to stringent safety and environmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise daily chemical production operations, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
  • Oversee the safe handling, storage, and disposal of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures throughout the production cycle.
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists on the scale‑up of new chemical products and processes from laboratory to pilot plant and full‑scale production.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions to maintain process continuity and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering .
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably within the specialty chemicals sector.
  • Hands‑on experience with common chemical synthesis and analytical techniques.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO quality standards.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage production teams effectively in George .
