The Program Coordinator provides a welcoming, trauma-informed environment for young adults experiencing homelessness in a seasonal role from September – April. We are LGBTQ+ affirming, but not exclusive. The Shelter Coordinator assists in offering leadership primarily to Nashville Launch Pad’s Emergency Shelter. They will work alongside the Program Director, and Program Manager to manage staff, support guests in shelter, empower volunteers, and ensure Launch Pad programs are running smoothly.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Emergency Shelter – Seasonal overnight program operating November 1 through April 1 each year. Capacity of about 20 young adults, aged 18-26 each night, in partnership with local churches. Hot meal, shower, mattress, linens, first aid, and additional supplies provided.
Mobile Housing Navigation Center – Single grant funded, this 24/7 year-round program offers staffed transitional housing and resource navigation for up to 12 young adults, ages 18-24. Must be experiencing literal homelessness and referred from the city’s Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS).
Job ResponsibilitiesLEADERSHIP
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of seasonal staff
- Assist with Staff scheduling and timesheet oversight
- Utilizes scheduling and project management tools to manage shift coverage and communication across all programs
- Serve as program leader on-call 2-3 nights per week
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DATA REPORTING
- Ensures implementation of and adherence to agency policies and procedures
- Suggests policy and procedure improvements as needed
- Shares site leadership responsibility including on-site crisis intervention in rotation with other key staff
- Protects guest/resident and data confidentiality
- Assist in maintaining Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) database
- Assist in maintaining quality census, demographics and other data using agency’s custom Sales Force application
- Track supply inventory and assist in transporting and delivering supplies as needed
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Emergency Shelter (seasonal)
- Function as an assistant coordinator of the Emergency Shelter under the supervision of the Program Manager
- Assist in engaging guests to find appropriate resources to move forward out of homelessness
- Work in the emergency shelter 4 evenings a week, including some weekend and holiday shifts
- Some coverage of overnights may be required depending on staffing schedules
- Assist in high level behavior management alongside Program Director and Program Manager
- Provide an excellent experience for volunteers, including collecting feedback and implementing improvements in the volunteer experience
- Engage guests who are dealing with complicated emotions and behavior regarding previous trauma
- Share in collaborative coverage of holidays and inclement weather response.
- Provide additional shift coverage as needed
EXTERNAL COLLABORATIONS
- Identify, build and maintain professional working relationships with all community partners including volunteers and representatives from partner agencies.
TRAINING
Paid training is provided. This includes, but is not limited to, CPR & First Aid, Naloxone, Trauma Informed Care, De-escalation, Nashville Launch Pad Volunteer Training, and Food Safety.
Qualifications- 2-3 years of relevant experience required
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially 18-26 year olds or people experiencing homelessness, is preferred
- LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and individuals with lived experience of housing instability strongly encouraged to apply
- Previous leadership and team management experience is required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and manage conflict
- Be culturally sensitive, team focused, and collaborative
- Be a competent professional with excellent interpersonal communication skills and able to meet deadlines
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to proficiently use a computer
- Be a team player with strong decision-making skills
- Strong sense of boundaries to keep relationships with guests and staff professional, safe, and healthy
