Oncology Research License Practical Nurse LPN

McKesson’s Sarah Cannon Research Institute is a leading oncology research organization. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Research Care Support Nurse role, you will provide direct patient care, perform clinical assessments, and support study procedures in a clinical research setting.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care as directed by the physician or RN.
- Place peripheral IVs for blood collection and perform nurse assessment for poor venous access.
- Collect specimens, flush IVs, and perform nursing assessments and monitoring.
- Evaluate abnormal ECGs in real time and document findings at each clinic visit.
- Support study‑related procedures, including specimen collection from peripheral, port, and IV lines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to SOPs, protocols, and regulations.
- Route collected samples to appropriate departments for processing or analysis.
- Ensure pharmacokinetic rooms are clean and ready for patient use.
- Utilize electronic medical record systems and laboratory information systems.
- Prepare and quality‑check sponsor‑provided research collection kits.
- Report non‑conformance and non‑compliance to appropriate personnel.
- Manage inventory of clinical and office supplies.
- Support department process improvement initiatives and maintain required certifications.
- Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Complete and submit data and query requests with source documentation.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the State of Tennessee.
- IV Therapy Certification.
- Working knowledge of medical and oncology research terminology.
- Working knowledge of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- Strong communication skills with patients and physicians.
- Experience with electronic medical record and laboratory information systems.
- Ability to perform clinical assessments and monitor patients in a research setting.
