Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team. In this position, you will assist patients with their daily living needs, provide compassionate care, and generally increase their quality of life. Responsibilities may include monitoring vital signs, assisting with hygiene needs, and communicating with nurses and doctors. The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, and willing to be an advocate for their patients.

Essential

Functions
  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere for residents, family, visitors, and staff.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, oral care, skin and nail care, and hand washing.
  • Answer residents' call signals.
  • Observe residents' conditions and vital signs; report changes to the licensed nurse. Assist with toileting, including bowel and bladder retraining and perineal care.
  • Assist in the collection of specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum. Verbally inform or document observations and changes for the nurse's evaluation.
  • Answer phones and direct visitors.
  • Use aseptic technique for infection control, including proper hand washing and adherence to infection control policies.
  • Accurately document all care provided, including dietary intake/output, temperature, weight, pulse, and respiration, using approved abbreviations and terms.
  • Use safe body mechanics when lifting or transferring residents or supplies.
  • Participate in resident care planning through shift reports and staffing meetings.
  • Respond to emergencies such as bleeding, falls, seizures, and perform Heimlich maneuver as needed. Attend staff meetings and educational programs.
  • Create a calm, warm, and personal environment for residents.
  • Assist with scheduled medications following policies and regulations. Take and record blood pressures and pulses as scheduled, reporting any changes.
  • Keep the med cart clean and organized.
  • Assist residents with grooming, including hair care, shaving, dressing, and weighing.
  • Maintain good hand hygiene and follow infection control policies.
  • Assist with resident orientation to the facility and routines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and resident rights at all times.
  • Report any changes in a resident's condition promptly to the nurse.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma/GED
    • Valid CNA certificate
    • Basic computer skills
    • Adherence to health and safety guidelines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to lift heavy objects
    • Compassionate, respectful, and ethical attitude
