Position: Public Nurse Practitioner- Occupational Health and Wellness Clinic (OHWC).-Onsite

This position works under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager and works collaboratively with the Civil Service Medical Examiner (CSME).

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a liaison between the OHWC and Metro departments coordinating pre-employment physical exams, functional capacity exams, fitness-for-duty exams, annual physical exams and psychological (referral) examinations.
  • Represents the OHWC for its interactions with both internal (MPHD) and external (Metro) partners.
  • Coordinates and assists with off-site procedures such as employee flu shots, TB skin testing, and rabies vaccinations. (MNPD Academy, DCSO and Metro Animal Control).
  • Oversees cost-effective use and conservation of resources, including the supply and administration of drugs, vaccines, biologicals, and laboratory services.
  • Submits billing statements to Metro departments to ensure prompt payment of services rendered.
  • Collaborates with Injury on Duty (IOD) case managers, Metro HR/Safety personnel, physician offices and patients/employees to facilitate examinations and potential return to work.
  • Works in collaboration with the MPHD Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Prepares qualitative and productivity reports, annual reports; reviews current research to stay abreast of occupational public health issues.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA.
  • Will provide guidance/mentorship to the nurses and office reps.
Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization.
  • Certificate of Fitness as an Advanced Practice Nurse issued by the State of Tennessee.
  • Licensed a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee. Applicants holding a Registered Nurse or APRN license from a state that participates in the “Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact” may be hired but must obtain their Tennessee license within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
  • Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a nurse practitioner.
