We’re interested in uncovering physical principles of enzyme function over evolution and developing new methods to guide rational design of enzyme properties. The successful applicant must be self‑motivated, extremely well‑organized, able to communicate clearly, and work effectively in a team of researchers.

About the Work Unit

We are a young and vibrant research team dedicated to understanding protein function and developing computational tools to that end. We offer a highly collaborative, supportive, and inclusive work environment. This position would be a wonderful opportunity for a recent graduate to gain further research experience prior to pursuing a graduate degree, and we will consider highly motivated applicants at all levels.

Key

Functions and Expected Performance
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects under moderate supervision and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • After an initial training period, work autonomously on your own project to drive the research mission of the lab.
  • Know the basics of molecular modeling and be capable of setting up classical molecular dynamics simulations for design rule discovery.
  • Order and receive laboratory supplies.
  • Follow University safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Relationships

This position does not have supervisory responsibility; it reports functionally to the Principal Investigator and administratively to the Department Administrative Manager.

Education and Certifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a field of Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or Chemistry.
Experience and Skills
  • Prior experience performing laboratory research.
  • Experience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (PCR, Western blotting, protein expression and purification).
  • Experience with classical molecular modeling (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and organization.
  • Ability to work with others in a mutually respectful environment that values honesty, integrity, and accountability.
