Job Description

The Breakfast Attendant is expected to provide excellent customer service to all guests they encounter, whether in the breakfast area or not. Excellent service includes offering a quality product with a smile and promoting the brand standards we are known for – uncompromised service with a focus on guest satisfaction. This position is responsible for the overall guest experience before, during, and after dining in our café.

Job Requirements
  • Complete all brand required training
  • Complete all required Safety & Health training
  • Provide personalized service to all guests
  • Regularly communicate and converse with guests to understand how to provide the experience they desire
  • Prepare food and beverage according to the recipe provided
  • Fully comply with all food safety requirements, as outlined in Food Safety Training
  • Responsible for keeping inventory stocked by ordering additional food and/or supplies as needed
  • Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Maintain regular attendance, is consistently on time, and observes prescribed work, break and meal periods in compliance with standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code.
  • Oversee the food and beverage (breakfast department/catering) of the hotel including food quality and production, and banquet/catering service.
  • Assist the GM with recruitment & selection, orientation, training & development, scheduling, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Enforce policies and procedures established by the company, the hotel brand and applicable state and local health codes.
  • Support cost objections by controlling food costs, payroll hours used and avoid food wastage.
  • Setting up and maintaining the breakfast bar in an attractive, abundant, organized, clean, and standardized presentation.
  • Taking inventory of food, beverages and supplies needed for each day
  • Ordering or purchasing food supplies
  • Preparing foods such as fresh fruit, coffee and juices
  • Setting up serving dishes/trays, utensils, cups and other products
  • Setting out/arranging cold food such as sweet rolls, muffins and cereal
  • Clearing and cleaning tables as they are vacated
  • Removing trash
  • Restocking self‑service food and supplies as needed
  • Washing serving equipment and returning it to storage
  • Returning reusable food supplies to storage
  • Vacuuming & sweeping carpets & floors
  • Mopping floors
  • Dusting, brushing, polishing, & vacuuming furniture
  • Dusting & cleaning room decorations, appliances, & structural surfaces (e.g., wall fixtures, window sills, vents, etc.; using appropriate cleaners designated by immediate supervisor)
  • Inspecting areas for safety hazards & for the operating conditions of equipment
  • Reporting lost & found articles, maintenance problems (common areas) to your immediate supervisor and maintenance
  • Performing any other job-related duties assigned by a supervisor
  • Performing special daily tasks assigned by supervisor
Necessary Skills
  • Food preparation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and guests of varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to follow all food safety and preparation guidelines to ensure a quality product and service
  • Willingness and ability to practice safe work habits and required safety equipment
  • Desire to focus on guest satisfaction and project this desire through positive interaction with guests while striving to provide an excellent experience for all guests, both internal and external
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to climb stairs
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast‑pace environment
  • Must be able to use a ladder and step stool
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 20 pounds periodically
  • Must be able to pull up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Must have visual acuity to distinguish between objects both near and far (with or without corrective lenses)
