ReStore Sales Associate/Donation Pickup Driver

JOB SUMMARY: The Sales Associate & Donation Pick-Up Ambassador (Driver) is a retail position requiring strong customer service skills, positive attitude and outgoing personality. Must be able to work with staff and volunteers; be able to relate to people of different races, faiths and incomes. Responsible for safely driving the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville (HFHGN) donation truck as needed, including loading and unloading donations from the Nashville area.

Included with this is the responsibility for truck maintenance to include mechanical, safety and cleanliness when assigned. This job is an in‑person position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
  • Responsibilities include receiving donated merchandise, pricing, stocking, customer service, cashier and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain office/donor relationships electronically through Vonigo scheduling platform, email and phone.
  • Screen donations to determine usability for ReStore.
  • Check out customers at cash register.
  • Stock merchandise; rotate and face merchandise on shelves.
  • Assist customers by locating merchandise.
  • Cross train as required by Management.
  • Proper packing and securing of donated items.
  • Unload and load donations at designated ReStore locations.
  • Provide efficient professional service to donors and share the Habitat ReStore mission.
  • Ensure that vehicles are properly maintained on driving days, using daily inspection sheet.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards by cleaning and dusting area as needed.
  • Assist in donation pick‑up as needed.
  • Assist in deconstruction as needed, performing construction tasks related to deconstruction.
  • Prepare deconstruction inventory: identify, label, record merchandise.
  • Log deconstruction inventory into Counterpoint System, price and display.
  • Participate in annual review process.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in and support agency activities as needed, including staff support at the build site.
  • Ensure that all Habitat for Humanity International and Affiliate Policies and Guidelines are followed.
  • Other duties as directed by management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Provides customer assistance at all times.
  • Position requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record for insurance purposes.
  • Load and unload merchandise – donations, deconstruction, business and customers.
  • Heavy work: individually exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Maintain office/donor relationships electronically through Vonigo scheduling platform, email and phone.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, both company, OSHA and TDOT.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of high school (diploma or equivalent) preferred.
  • Equivalent education or experience in job related activities.
  • Experience in driving commercial truck or towing trailers.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record for insurance purposes.
  • Must have the ability and desire to work respectfully with people of all cultures, languages, national origins, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, classes, immigration statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, ages, mental or physical abilities, and other diversity factors. Must conduct all activities in accordance with Habitat principles.
TIME REQUIREMENTS
  • 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime may be offered. Satisfactory attendance is required.
  • The schedule is Tuesday – Saturday from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
  • Participate as staff support at the Habitat Build Site as needed.
