What You’ll Make An ImpactThe Strategic Account Manager will drive growth for Valvoline by managing and servicing key warehouse distribution accounts within the DIY business. This role is responsible for expanding the Valvoline portfolio through the development and execution of strategic sales plans that leverage marketing programs, promotions, and product offerings. Success in this position requires strong relationship-building skills at the buyer and merchant level, with regular customer site visits and in-person engagements across various domestic locations in the United States.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver strategic presentations, promotions, and initiatives to support Valvoline Global Operations (VGO) business across assigned key accounts
- Collaborate with Director-level leadership to create annual account plans and monitor progress against volume, sales, and profit (P&L) objectives on a monthly basis
- Support the planning, execution, and assessment of channel- and account-specific marketing promotions
- Coordinate sales activities with the Director of Strategic Accounts to optimize promotional efforts and maximize impact across all relevant accounts
- Contribute to the development and execution of retail and wholesale sales strategies aligned with the Valvoline Strategic Plan
- Partner cross-functionally with Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to create compelling selling platforms that include pricing, promotions, trade programs, and logistical strategies
- Leverage dedicated account customer service teams to manage order fulfillment and day-to-day customer needs
- Conduct regular face-to-face meetings and travel to customer sites and events to maintain relationships and execute business objectives
- Bachelors degree
- 3–5 years of experience in account management or sales, preferably within the consumer goods or retail/wholesale space
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, develop presentations, and contribute to marketing plans
- Experience interpreting financial statements, with an understanding of profit drivers and product/portfolio optimization
- Ability to think critically and creatively to position Valvoline competitively in the marketplace
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with the ability to independently manage multiple projects and objectives
- Strong responsiveness and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset
- Understanding of key business growth levers including revenue, volume, share, opportunity cost, and ROI calculations
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- MBA
- Experience in the automotive industry
- Background in consumer promotions or shopper marketing
- Familiarity with sales strategy within retail and wholesale channels
- Proven success in building and maintaining long-term customer relationships
