Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position exists to patrol the campus, protect property, and respond to emergency situations and requests for assistance. This position is eligible to receive a shift differential.
- Receive and properly direct incoming calls related to response to emergencies, suspicious circumstances, preliminary investigation of crimes, service requests, and providing other assistance.
- Coordinate response activities between Security, campus responders, and local police, fire, and EMS response agencies.
- Ensure all required notifications are made on incidents and shift supervisor is apprised of notifications and updates. Ensure persons reporting concerns are notified of the response and disposition, with documentation noted in Daily Highlights and Activity Log.
- Assist callers and walk in traffic on matters related to access control, events, parking/registration, and obtaining BUID.
- Monitor electronic access control system, perform data entry related to access schedules, and troubleshoot access control issues related to programming and scheduling. Conduct daily check of access control system status, report issues for repair, and provide remote access when appropriate under procedures, issue parking permits and provide information on parking regulations; may assist in processing parking enforcement materials such as boot list, parking tests, and citation data entry.
- Issue authorized keys to students, staff and contractors. Monitor security and burglar alarm systems, coordinate fire-system response with monitoring agency, coordinate Security/Fire Department response to alarm activations, and report any malfunction. Monitor surveillance camera system, conduct daily check of system status, report issues for repair, and review surveillance video related to investigations.
- Ensure required information is fully and accurately documented on dispatch cards, logs, and other materials. Prepare and maintain daily activity logs and various other forms and reports as requested.
- May oversee student staff assigned to work in OCS to assist in handling phones calls, radio traffic, and walk-up service. Handle public complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Provide exceptional customer service and assistance through courteous, professional interactions displaying empathy, respect, and a caring attitude whether in person, by phone, or via electronic communication at all times.

- Be free of convictions including: probation for 5 years for serious crimes OR crimes involving firearms, shoplifting, and violence.
- Must meet the state regulated training requirements.
- Submit three fingerprint cards for processing for a TBI and/or FBI criminal history check.
