Security Guard Position

Provides general security services to the campus and assists campus police officers with routine patrols and other security measures.

• Patrol campus by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle and report suspected crimes, accidents, or suspicious activity.
• Document accidents involving persons or property, establish probable cause, pursue appropriate action, and inform proper authorities.
• Provide security for special events and write citations for parking violations.
• Offer direction and instruction to faculty, staff, and students during unusual or emergency situations.
• Participate in campus training for emergencies and law‑enforcement officers.
• Monitor classrooms, offices, and buildings for safety and maintenance concerns.
• Maintain and utilize security equipment, department records, and prepare reports.
• May testify in court or during legal proceedings as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license

• Prior security or law‑enforcement experience

Ability to work in varying conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings in all weather. Good customer service skills and effective communication. Ability to cooperate with diverse faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated self‑restraint in challenging situations, problem‑solving skills, and occasional travel within the service area.
