Role Overview

Fleet Services is currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician
. The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II, the Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician serves as the lead on jobsites and functions as a consultant on the customer’s behalf.

A successful Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fuel systems, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using tools and test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, and diesel tools, as well as welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work results on the Repair Orders (RO) using an iOS device and the TRAIT application, uploading pictures and parts used.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work independently, managing a daily schedule and maintaining high productivity.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, as well as federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (alternative combinations of education and experience accepted).
  • At least 3 years’ experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Participate in and complete all company‑required training.
  • Must pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license with an able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
