Job Description
We are seeking a strong engineer to join our team which is focused on building and maintaining a scalable software control platform for Compute Infrastructure. The systems you build will be used by both external and internal customers and provide mission‑critical services.
Major focus areas of software maintained by the team include:
- Creating and maintaining highly available APIs for launching and managing Compute resources. This includes not only APIs but highly complex asynchronous workflows, background processing, etc.
- Designing and implementing highly scalable systems capable of functioning across numerous regions in a worldwide cloud footprint.
- Maintaining a highly scaled data‑plane communicating over Kafka.
You and members of the team will be called upon to solve many diverse problems, deliver critical customer features, and solve automation problems through robust architectural decisions and customer‑first design. You will deliver the solutions that directly contribute to the success of our customers.
ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for hands‑on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure and highly available services. As a Senior Member of Technical Staff you will own the software design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. You should be both a rock solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions.
You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
- 4–8+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of C, C++ or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
- Strong understanding of databases, No
SQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies. - Strong understanding of Linux or desire to learn.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Experience building multi‑tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus.

Hiring Range in USD from: $79,800 - $178,100 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
