We are looking for an engineering lead/architect with distributed systems experience. You should have experience with the design of major features and launching them into production, operating high-scale services, and driving technical leadership for development teams. You will work with services that require data travel across distances while adhering to compliance and regulations. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, highly available, scalable, and resilient, able to balance speed and quality with iterative improvements.

You will automate and instrument to get the right data, and foster a culture of operational excellence.

The role will drive tactical execution of features and projects, own feature design, and help ensure a proactive, data-driven approach to operations.

Team and scope
:
Senior Principal Software Development Engineer on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace team
, setting technical direction and driving business outcomes for the marketplace platform. You will be a technical lead on a team of software engineers building, growing, and operating our services. The Marketplace team builds services where customers purchase pre-configured software installations across cloud environments, addressing backend distributed services, e-commerce transactions, and user-facing web apps.

Responsibilities
:

• Lead system design of major features and services
• Mentor other engineers and collaborate with product managers and leadership
• Write high-quality code at a rapid pace
• Improve code coverage, development processes, and automation of testing and deployments

Qualifications
:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
• 8-10+ years of full-stack software development and operation of distributed services
• Experience driving architecture and functional reviews, documentation, UX reviews, and working with Product Managers through the launch process
• Hands-on experience building and operating entire systems and services
• Strong product development experience in Java, Python, Golang, Java Script
• Expert in REST API design and multi-tenant systems
• Familiarity with browser UIs, TCP/IP, HTTP, and standard network architectures
• Knowledge of databases, No
  
  SQL, storage, and distributed persistence
• Technical leadership experience; able to lead multiple projects in parallel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation and Benefits
:

• US Hiring Range: $96,800 - $251,600 per year, plus bonus, equity, and compensation deferral where applicable
