Join as a Senior Member of Technical Staff in Oracle's software engineering division. You will assist in defining, developing, debugging, and designing software applications or operating systems, provide technical leadership to other developers, and design modest changes to existing software architecture to meet evolving needs.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the development, debugging, or designing of software applications or operating systems. Responsibilities and tasks are varied and complex, requiring independent judgment, full competence in your area of expertise, and potentially a project lead or supervisory role. A BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in the relevant functional area is required, with at least 8 years of software engineering or related experience.

You will help build large‑scale distributed infrastructure for cloud services, specifically within the Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) team, focusing on highly customizable Virtual Cloud Networks and connectivity services. The team is currently expanding and undertakes ambitious initiatives to create state‑of‑the‑art software‑defined networking (SDN) solutions that enable high‑performance, highly available, virtualized networks.

As a member of the Dataplane team, you will design and develop major core components of Oracle’s Virtual Cloud Network. Responsibilities include delivering high‑speed packet processing architectures, distributed systems that provide networking features such as TCP/UDP packet processing, access controls, metrics, and monitoring dashboards.

You are an expert coder with networking and embedded system experience. You value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and are excited to learn.

• 4+ years distributed cloud engineering experience in a software development environment
• Experience developing service‑oriented architectures and web services security solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences
• Excellent in making high impact judgement calls during large‑scale operational events
• Experience working with various Network Virtualization technologies
• Strong knowledge of Linux networking constructs
• Software‑based packet forwarding experience
• Experience working with fast and large‑scale read/write intensive distributed systems
• Understand fundamental network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and others
• Proficient at programming in C++ and Python
• Proficient with Linux and experienced with shell scripting languages
• Bachelor’s in computer science and engineering or related engineering fields

• Deep understanding of object‑oriented design and SDK development, specifically within a cloud environment
• Familiarity and understanding of distributed computing and cloud‑based platforms
• Understanding of cross‑functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms
• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields
