Principal Member of Technical Staff – Oracle

As a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will design and develop new systems and major components within existing systems, playing a key role in driving and maintaining engineering excellence. You’ll partner with other architects, product managers, and cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into technical specifications and high‑impact capabilities. You will help contribute to the technical vision, elevate development practices, operational efficiency, team ownership, and mentoring culture.

• Write secure, maintainable, and robust code along with comprehensive tests.
• Actively participate in planning and risk mitigation for systems and services across the organization.
• Work independently on most projects; occasionally manage a small team to deliver business value.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the development lifecycle.

OCI Security Products Group is building comprehensive product portfolios to protect customers’ cloud environments with innovative approaches and hyperscale efficiency. Core security pillars: customer isolation, data encryption, security controls, and visibility. The vision is to build the most secure cloud environment for customers to build their applications confidently on top of OCI.

Engineers with extensive distributed systems experience, designed new systems from ground‑up, re‑designed for improved efficiencies and scale, operated high‑scale services, and made them observable and resilient. Comfortable leading and mentoring, diving deep into any part of the stack, valuing simplicity and scale, and working in a collaborative, agile environment.

Reliability, performance, and staying current in the cybersecurity space. Rapid growth requires systems to scale out and handle traffic patterns on an order of magnitude greater than today, while managing trade‑offs and executing crisply.

• 6+ years of distributed service engineering or relevant experience in a software development environment
• Experience driving feature design reviews, documentation, UX reviews, and working with Product Managers through the entire launch process
• Strong development experience in Java, C++, C#, or similar OO languages
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals
• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures

• Experience building multi‑tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus

• Hands‑on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Oracle)
• Building continuous integration/deployment pipelines with robust testing and deployment schedules
• Expertise in applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques to develop security solutions
• Experience and understanding of Cryptography, DDoS, CVE, CIS, SAST, DAST, or similar security and compliance knowledge

Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 - $223,400 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
