In this role, you will deliver and support technology solutions for Business Systems Development initiatives. As an application developer lead, you will collaboratively lead, identify, design, develop and deploy technology and process solutions establishing key business capabilities and platform features, enabling the realization of strategic initiatives and operational improvements. This role requires deep technical expertise, domain proficiency, platform depth, and leadership.

Typical activities include leading requirements analysis, solution design, technical development, and process improvement coupled with the ability to drive efforts and solution improvements effectively across various IT and business functions. In addition to delivering new technology and enhancing/supporting existing systems, an effective application developer lead contributes technical, expertise, negotiates platform priorities and drives alignment. You will also coach and mentor experienced developers to help them progress their technical knowledge and careers.

As an application developer lead, you will…

• Effectively lead and collaborate in planning, decomposing, estimating, scheduling, prioritization and resource allocation exercises. Take the lead on prototype efforts for complex problems. Build incrementally, with an eye toward vision of the final product. Provide transparency in approach and progress, throughout the process.
• Lead the Development Team through the solution design process. Participate in requirements gathering and backlog refinement, take the lead in shaping and guiding systems approach, drive project initiation, contribute to functional design, and leads technical design and development.
• Develop software solutions to business problems. Leverage established design patterns and coding standards. Ensure solutions are secure, durable, scalable, flexible, and accessible and proactively mitigate against production support issues.
• Automate test coverage per platform capabilities and requirements. Establish and maintain continuous build and integration testing on applicable platforms and assist with manual system and integration testing efforts.
• Contribute to and drive deployment approach, including planning and execution, data conversion approach, script development and execution, warranty period and transition of the solution to the platform's operational context.
• Operate in both waterfall and Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes and methodologies.

• Proactively shape and influence candidate solutions on the platform. This consultative part of the role explores the business capability portfolio to guide and direct solution options to ensure health of the platform.
• Play a creative role in the Platform Stewardship portfolio. Contribute to and drive the vision, roadmap, and platform investments needed to take our business solutions to the next level. Identify, influence, sell, and prioritize innovative platform opportunities, as well as technical debt, with regular reviews, creating programs and solutions to raise the level of the platform offering or remediate systemic operational problems.
