Northwestern State University of Louisiana Department of English, Languages, and Cultural Studies in Natchitoches, LA, is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of English (tenure‑track) with a specialty in English literature. The starting date will be August 10, 2026.

- Ph.D. in English preferred; ABDs/ABOs considered.
- Dissertation or specialty in English literature.
The position’s teaching responsibilities are expected to include the first half of a year‑long English literature survey for majors as well as first‑year composition classes, introductory literature courses for majors and non‑majors, and more specialized classes in English literature. Candidates should:
- Teach online and face‑to‑face courses.
- Teach both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Submit course outlines and objectives.
- Maintain class schedules.
- Provide course instruction in accordance with designated objectives.
- Utilize a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to the targeted domain of learning.
- Evaluate students regularly and report progress in a timely manner.
- Participate in periodic review of course materials.
- Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Department goals and course objectives.
- Participate in faculty meetings and serve on all appropriate department and university committees.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and university policy.
- Engage in professional service.
- Engage in research.
- Represent the Department in a professional manner in all activities.
