Position: ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF NURSING

Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks applicants for a Non-Tenure Track 9- month fulltime faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs in nursing available in Natchitoches, Louisiana beginning August 4, 2025.

A Master in Nursing degree required, however, a Doctorate is preferred (required for academic rank of Associate Professor), Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty. Unencumbered licensure status as an RN or APRN in the state of Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure. At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience preferred.

Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
Teaching Duties {50%}:

• Teach all classes in a manner that will promote academic excellence to the fullest extent.

• Provide instruction in areas of expertise.

• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to domain of learning.

• Serve as a role model to students and peers.

• Assist with development, evaluation and revision of curriculum, policies, and procedures within the College of Nursing.

• Maintain required office hours.

• Maintain good attendance.

• Supervise and evaluate student learning experiences.
Advising (10%):

• Serve as an advisor and mentor for students in the College of Nursing.

• Advises students interested in the program and those currently in the program regarding the curriculum and APDG requirements.
Administrative Duties (10%):

• Attend College of Nursing and/or University functions and committee meetings as assigned.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the College of Nursing goals and objectives.

• Assist with maintenance of records and files pertinent to the College of Nursing.

• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy.

• Serve as a Liaison between the College of Nursing and other University departments as well as local, state, and national agencies and professional organizations.
