Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance and productivity of store personnel and serves as the primary representative to customers in the absence of the Store Manager. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of all store operations to effectively step into the manager’s role as needed. The Assistant Manager also supervises designated department operations and assists associates in daily activities, making in-depth knowledge of the assigned department essential.

This position demands strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to manage, train, take corrective action, and motivate team members while upholding the company’s standards and mission. A solid background in the building materials and home improvement industry is required. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with customers, staff, and other members of management.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  Must have a high school education or equivalent, and preferably extended education beyond high school.
• Training and
  
  Experience:
  
  A minimum of three years in the building industry or a management position.
• Job Knowledge:
  Should have a good knowledge of the building material industry and of managing people.
• Physical Demands:
  Work requires some physical effort; involves standing, much walking, and medium lifting. Works in and out of an air-conditioned environment. (Important:
  This job is classified in the physical demands section of the job description [Form IV-31] as constant medium work and occasional heavy work.)
