Job Summary

Ensures hot and cold foods are prepared and displayed in accordance with company standards; works with deli personnel to promote department sales and profits, as well as customer service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Works with upper management to train and develop staff, schedule, and direct work.
  • Supports upper management with review of historical sales, ads, promotions, and inventory.
  • Co‑manages inventory to maintain in‑stock levels.
  • Reviews profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data with department manager.
  • Maintains sales performance, financial results, public relations, product quality, and work standards.
  • Enforces quality control and food safety standards and ensures proper rotation of dated products.
  • Assists with slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling lunch meats, cheeses, and other deli products; prepares catering and delivery orders.
  • Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures inventory accuracy and paperwork.
  • Promotes product sales through suggestive selling and appealing displays.
  • Provides customer‑service‑oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and taking orders by phone and in person.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and sanitary environment by following safety procedures.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Intermediate knowledge of deli department operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of in‑store ordering machine and inventory management processes.
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling software systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with customers and partners.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to operate a manual or electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and calibrated scales.
  • Ability to use precision and non‑precision hand tools.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp edges such as knives.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and report them to a supervisor when immediate remedy is impossible.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and one or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Partner must be 21 or older to drive for company business in accordance with BGC Business Driver Policy.
  • Food Handler certification required.
  • Manager Food Safety certification required.
Physical Demands
  • Continuous use of vision and hearing.
  • Continuous use of hands for reaching, touching, or handling.
  • Continuous standing or walking.
  • Frequent use of strenuous finger or hand movements; frequent bending, kneeling, squatting or stooping.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 40 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Attendance at work required.
Work Context And Environment
  • Work performed in a retail store.
  • Exposure to hot surfaces and extreme temperatures.
  • Occasional exposure to wet, slippery, damp conditions and cleaning agents.
  • Quiet to moderate noise level.
