Qualifications
- Six months or more of experience working and/or volunteering with children in an organized setting.
- Students enrolled in early childhood education classes are strongly recommended.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Passion for working with children and colleagues.
- Flexibility and collaboration.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth.
- Alternative degrees/experience may be substituted for the above at the discretion of the Director.
- Help lead educational, enrichment, and recreational activities to students as directed by the Assistant Site Supervisor.
- Contribute ideas for activities and special events.
- Teach children new games, conduct special activities, and always show good sportsmanship.
- Observe and manage student behavior according to program procedures.
- Display good judgment; enforce age‑appropriate expectations, manage with fairness and consistency.
- Report progress and concerns to the Assistant Site Supervisor.
- Be alert and sensitive to the individual needs of the children, maintain physical and emotional safety, and support each child in developing social skills.
- Treat all children and families with kindness and respect.
- Always prioritize the physical safety of the children and lead by example.
- Model good behavior and positive choices, showing respect to all staff, peers, school personnel, and property.
- Follow all health and safety procedures; report all injuries and incidents to the Assistant Supervisor.
- Be familiar with protocols and evacuation strategies in case of fire, lockdown, or other building emergencies.
- Assist with tasks: set up and put away equipment; clean activity and storage spaces; prepare and clean‑up of daily activities; support adult staff in daily functions.
- Maintain a count of children in assigned group at all times.
- Know signs of child abuse, bullying; act as a mandated reporter; maintain confidentiality of information about program children and families.
- Participate in on‑site staff meetings and communication via email with Assistant Supervisor and Assistant Director.
- Participate in homework support for all grades during the Homework Time program (if applicable at your site).
- Communicate well with staff and children to help manage groups and overall space.
- Perform tasks with accuracy, thoroughness, and follow‑through.
- Any other relative duties as assigned.
