SUPERVISORY TEXTILE TECHNOLOGIST with Security Clearance
Location:
Natick, MA
- Serve as a Senior Project Leader, Scientist, and Supervisor for the Uniform and Certification Group (NCTRF
01) at the Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF). - Plan, conduct, and coordinate major programs of broad scope in the area of uniforms and protective clothing.
- Direct, plan, and execute research, development, design, test, and evaluation programs for uniforms, protective clothing, materials, and textiles.
- Provide supervision, direction, and oversight of Clothing Designers and Textile Technologists.
- Serve as a Technical Warrant Holder for Naval Uniforms.
- United States citizen.
- Determined suitable for federal employment.
- Participation in the direct deposit pay program.
- Successful completion of the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Eligibility for appointment within 180 days after retirement for retired military members, per 5 U.S.C. § 3326.
- Registered for Selective Service if male born after 12-31-59.
- Obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance before duty; failure may result in withdrawal of offer or removal.
- Covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA); must be certified as a Career Field Engineering and Technical Management (ETM) Level II within 24 months of appointment.
- Complete ethics orientation within three months and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- Must obtain and maintain acquisition certification per DoD Instruction 5000.66, with 60 months to earn the practitioner acquisition certification.
- Complete 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every two years, per DoDI 5000.66.
- Travel up to 25% may be required.
- Basic requirements for a Textile Technologist position in the federal service: possession of a degree in textile technology or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in textile technology with at least 20 semester hours and appropriate experience.
- At least one full year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in the federal service, demonstrating proficiency in protective clothing and equipment design, fabrics and materials, fabric construction, and production methodology.
- Experience applying professional knowledge to develop protective clothing and equipment meeting performance and mission requirements, including advising on materials, analyzing test results, planning and directing new designs, reviewing specifications, and performing analysis and evaluation methods using ASTM, AATCC, ISO, and Federal Standard test methods.
- Ability to manage projects and programs, conduct studies, and direct others in testing and evaluation procedures.
