Position Overview
Merchandising Assistant Store Manager in Training (MASM‑IT) will gain hands‑on experience in the key responsibilities and functions of a Specialty Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot. The program includes comprehensive training, mentorship, and leadership development. MASMs will learn to oversee Merchandising departments such as Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing, and Electrical to enhance customer service, product availability, and store presentation.
They will collaborate with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), and merchandising field teams to develop and implement strategies that boost sales and profitability.
$65,000 – $75,000 per year
Key Responsibilities- 15% – Customer
Experience:
Supervise associates, lead a customer‑first culture, and resolve customer concerns promptly. - 10% – Operations Management:
Perform opening, closing, and other store‑wide duties; enforce company policies, safety compliance, and maintain operational accuracy. - 10% – Safety:
Ensure self and associates follow safety and hazardous‑materials procedures. - 15% – Sales and Productivity:
Plan merchandise placement, support stock integrity, and manage daily financial operations. - 50% – Training and Preparation for Assistant Manager:
Participate in a structured program covering retail store management, including staffing, scheduling, inventory, performance management, and associate discipline.

- Must continuously stand or walk; frequently lift, handle, or carry items weighing 8–20 pounds.
- Indoor retail environment; occasional unpleasant conditions are infrequent and not objectionable.
