We serve individuals in private residences, respite facilities, community work sites, training centers, supervised living arrangements, and our own state-licensed group homes.

High Level Description

The Residential Program Manager position provides direct oversight of one or more residential group homes serving individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities or the autism spectrum. Success requires strong organization, technical skills, adaptability, leadership, and knowledge of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services regulations.

Job Responsibilities
Level of Program Oversight
  • Level 1 Program:
    Less complex program
  • Level 2 Program:
    More involved program
  • Level 3 Program:
    Highly complex program

Regardless of program level, the main responsibilities include:

Group Home Oversight / Management
  • Responsible for daily operations and management of one or more group homes
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage 24/7 by managing staff scheduling to required supervision ratios
  • Plan and assign work to employees to ensure completion of tasks and responsibilities related to provision of supports and services
  • Ensure compliance with all DDS, agency, and other regulatory oversight policies
  • Develop and implement effective operational procedures as needed
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time
  • Utilize all company systems, software, and processes; ensure staff use them correctly
Individuals Care
  • Ensure the needs of individuals are met consistently and per individual plans, including medical, behavioral, vocational needs, transportation, etc.
  • Maintain and update individuals’ plans as needed per state and agency requirements
  • Assist and instruct individuals with activities of daily living and community participation
  • Provide direct care coverage as needed
Team Leadership / Management
  • Direct oversight of a team of Direct Support Professionals including scheduling, performance management, and employee development
  • Ensure team members have all required trainings and certifications
  • Lead team meetings and ensure all members have required information to succeed
  • Facilitate staff trainings as needed
Business Partner Relationships and Communications
  • Establish successful working relationships with supporting/sister teams and departments
  • Communicate regularly to management on program performance, successes, and issues
  • Partner with other leaders and administrative team members to share expertise and insights
  • Identify and participate in projects/initiatives that contribute to long-term excellence and individuals’ growth
Other Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of the workings of each department and team in the company
  • Perform special projects/assignments as needed
  • Use technology for specified job duties
  • Perform on-call duties as assigned, responding to on-site emergencies
Additional Required Responsibilities
  • Local travel using company vehicles requires a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be flexible, able to work weekends, holidays, and required 2nd shift presence
  • Required participation in a rotating on-call staffing schedule
  • Must be able to perform unannounced 3rd shift spot checks at group home locations
  • Skill-based assessments are required
