Purpose of the Job
As an Azure Data Engineer at Nouryon, you will work with heterogeneous data sources and deliver modern Data Warehousing (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions on Microsoft Azure. You’ll collaborate with product owners, application teams, and data scientists in an agile environment to deliver data-driven outcomes, support operational excellence (monitoring, incidents and changes), and enable the adoption of modern platforms and practices.

Design, build, and operate secure, reliable, and scalable Azure data solutions that power analytics and decision-making across Nouryon. You will own the full lifecycle of enterprise data pipelines—from ingestion and modelling through deployment and operations—while driving best practices in quality, performance, and Dev Ops.

About the job (Job Responsibilities)
Engineer & Orchestrate:  Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT), integrating diverse on-prem and cloud sources into Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2) and curated data models.
Model & Optimize:  Design efficient DW/BI models (star/snowflake) and write advanced SQL (including performance tuning and stored procedures) to support analytics and reporting.
Automate Delivery:  Implement and maintain Azure Dev Ops CI/CD (YAML) for data pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and controlled releases across environments.
Operate with Excellence :
Monitor pipeline health and data quality, manage schedules and dependencies, and handle change and incident management with root-cause analysis and service restoration.
Documentation & Design:  Produce solution architecture, data flow diagrams, runbooks, and user documentation that support sustainable operations and knowledge sharing.
Partner for Insights:  Collaborate with business stakeholders and BI teams to enable governed self-service; work with data scientists to enable and operationalize AI/ML scoring pipelines where needed.
Continuously Improve:  Drive improvements in cost, performance, observability, and automation; contribute to the adoption of modern capabilities (e.g., Microsoft Fabric and enhanced governance).
End-to-end ownership of development, proactive monitoring, change management, and incident management.
Agile delivery mindset, with a focus on incremental value, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Commitment to data quality, compliance, security, and governance standards.

We believe you bring (Education & Experience)
Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

5–7 years of hands-on Data Engineering with a strong focus on Azure data platforms.
Core skills (must-have):
SQL (advanced), stored procedures, and performance tuning.
Azure Data Factory (pipelines, data flows, triggers, monitoring).
Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2) (zoning, partitioning, security/ACLs).
Azure Dev Ops CI/CD (pipelines as code, approvals, environment promotion).
Data warehousing & data modelling (star/snowflake).
Secondary skills:
Python, C# (for data processing, automation, or integration tooling).
Good to have:

Experience with Microsoft Fabric (One Lake, Data Engineering, Data Factory in Fabric)
Power BI exposure (datasets/semantic models, RLS, refresh)
Exposure to AI/ML workloads (feature pipelines, batch/real-time scoring, basic model ops)
Proven experience working in a data-centric and/or complex B2B enterprise environment; manufacturing/chemical industry exposure is preferred.
