We are seeking to second an outstanding and inspirational practitioner with strong leadership experience in Language, Literacy and Communication (Welsh) to join our School Improvement Team as an Associate Educational Support Adviser.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly effective practitioner to extend their influence beyond their own school and contribute to system-wide improvement in literacy outcomes, particularly reading, writing and oracy, across primary schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Literacy Leadership (Welsh): Lead and support the improvement of Language, Literacy and Communication (Welsh), with a particular focus on raising standards in reading, alongside writing and oracy.
  • Collaborative School Improvement: Work alongside headteachers and senior leaders to support self-evaluation, improvement planning and sustained progress in literacy outcomes.
  • Professional Learning & Capacity Building: Design, facilitate and model high-quality professional learning, particularly in reading pedagogy, assessment and intervention.
  • Curriculum for Wales: Provide expert guidance to support the design and delivery of coherent, progressive literacy provision aligned to Curriculum for Wales.
  • Teaching & Learning: Work directly with practitioners through coaching, modelling and in-class support to improve teaching quality and learner engagement.
  • System Leadership: Contribute to Local Authority priorities, working collaboratively across schools, clusters and partners to secure alignment and impact.
Who We Are Looking For
  • A highly effective classroom practitioner and leader in Language, Literacy and Communication (Welsh), with demonstrable impact on learner outcomes.
  • A proven track record in leading school improvement, particularly in raising standards in literacy.

  • Experience of leading professional learning, coaching or supporting improvement beyond your own classroom.
  • A skilled communicator with the ability to influence, challenge and support school leaders and practitioners.
  • A strong commitment to equity, inclusion and improving outcomes for all learners.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both Welsh and English in order to support schools and stakeholders across the Local Authority.
