About the Role

You'll work on a 1:1 basis supporting a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

You'll become a trusted adult within the classroom, providing encouragement, emotional support and consistency throughout the school day.

Working alongside experienced teachers, ALNCOs and senior leaders, you'll help create a positive learning environment where every child feels safe, valued and able to succeed.

No two days are the same, making this one of the most rewarding roles in education.

Your Responsibilities

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one classroom support.
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and other Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  • Build positive relationships based on trust, patience and consistency.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support positive behaviour using nurturing and restorative approaches.
  • Encourage communication and social interaction.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCOs, parents and external professionals.
  • Help pupils celebrate success and achieve meaningful progress every day.

Requirements

To be considered, you'll need:

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Two professional references
