We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Registration Service as Deputy Registration Manager. This role will support and deputise for the Superintendent Registrar in ensuring the effective, efficient and legally compliant day‑to‑day operation of the Local Registration Service. The postholder will play a key role in coordinating and overseeing the delivery of all civil ceremonies and civil funerals, including managing bookings, liaising with customers and stakeholders, and ensuring services are delivered to a consistently high standard and in accordance with statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for – supporting the Superintendent Registrar and assist leadership and supervision of the registration team.
The main duties of the post- Support the Superintendent Registrar in the overall management of the local Registration Service for births, deaths, and marriages.
- Supervise and provide day‑to‑day guidance to Registration Officers, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the register office.
- To oversee the delivery of statutory registration services, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.
- Supervise on complex or sensitive cases, providing expert advice and support to staff and the public. Processing card payments and assisting with coordinating all bookings and ceremonies.
- Deputise for the Superintendent Registrar as required, including representing the service at meetings and events.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and professionalism across the team.
- Previous registration experience is essential and knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Management experience and knowledge.
- Experience working within a customer‑focused environment.
- Experience of supporting, motivating, and supervising a team.
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) Registrar’s Qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at work
