Operations Manager – Income (12-month FTC)

We have 1x full-time position, on a fixed-term contract for up to 12 monthsavailable with a competitive pay and benefits package including a starting salary of £57,899 peryear.

Why This Role Matters

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Operational Manager – Income, is responsible for providing operational leadership for the organisation's income function, ensuring that rental income is maximised, financial risks are understood, effectively managed, and customers are supported to sustain tenancies.

The role provides a critical link between the Income Team, customers, and the organisation's financial sustainability, ensuring that income performance, customer affordability, tenancy sustainability, and wider financial risks are understood through robust analysis, insight, and evidence.

Working closely with Finance and other key internal and external stakeholders, the postholder will provide high-quality financial and operational insight to inform decision making, identify emerging risks and opportunities to support the organisation in maintaining a sustainable business.

Manage a large team of professionals, including welfare and benefit advisors, income recovery with the aim of a one organisation approach to managing income and tenancy sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Income Team, ensuring that specialist expertise in areas such as welfare benefits, income collection, debt recovery, and customer support is effectively deployed.
  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of the annual rent review process, ensuring accurate implementation across systems, effective stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, customer communication and minimal risk to organisational income.
  • Provide operational oversight of rental income, ensuring income is maximised and risks to the organisation’s financial position are identified, understood, and effectively managed.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the wider economic, social, and political environment, its impact on customers and the organisation's financial position to support proactive planning and risk management.
  • Work closely with Finance to understand the relationship between rental income, arrears, customer affordability, financial forecasting, and the wider financial sustainability of the organisation.
About You

We are looking for someone who brings both leadership strength and a strong understanding of Rental Income. You will be organised, proactive and committed to delivering services that tenants can rely on.

You will have/be:

  • Educated to degree, level 5, or equivalent experience.
  • Level 5 ILM Leadership, or commitment to work towards.
  • Competence in carrying out a role of a similar nature, leading on work streams for customers.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness, with the ability to understand how operational performance impacts organisational sustainability.
  • Excellent analytical capability, with experience of interpreting complex financial and operational data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.
