Key Responsibilities of Laser Programmer Produce accurate laser cutting programs from customer drawings and CAD files. Create efficient nests to maximise material utilisation and reduce waste. Generate production documentation, including route cards and work instructions where required. Ensure programs meet customer specifications and quality requirements. Work closely with Production Planning to prioritise urgent work and meet delivery deadlines. Liaise with Estimating and Sales regarding manufacturability and material requirements.
Review customer drawings and identify potential manufacturing issues before production. Maintain accurate programming records and documentation. Support continuous improvement by reviewing programming methods and improving efficiencies. Assist with troubleshooting production issues relating to programmed parts. Communicate effectively with shop floor operators to resolve programming queries. Ensure revision control is maintained for customer drawings and programs. Support new product introductions and prototype work.
Comply with all Health & Safety policies and company procedures. Essential Skills &
Experience of Laser Programmer Previous experience programming laser cutting machinery within a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience using CAD/CAM programming software. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes. Excellent attention to detail. Good mathematical and problem-solving skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads. Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Bystronic BySoft, Trumpf Boost, Solidworks or similar programming software. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
Experience with in precision engineering or sheet metal manufacturing. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles. Personal Attributes:
