Mortgage Field Services Inspector at FAR INSPECTIONS

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn a predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; effective time‑management and the ability to meet deadlines are crucial.

Inspectors are contracted at a county level. You will be responsible for completing all inspections in your county and may split the county with another inspector if volume warrants.

• Perform most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
• Complete each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy using industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in a mobile app.
• Spend extended periods driving within the assigned territory.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage helps; you pay your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, the role yields an equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county you may complete 20–500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Earnings increase with experience and territory coverage.

No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
