Position Overview

Alma Public School District #2 is seeking a passionate and dynamic 5–12 Band / 7–12 Music Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. • Inspire students through engaging instruction in instrumental and vocal music.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management, organization, and performance direction skills.
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
• Continue the rich tradition of excellence in marching band, pep band, and concert performances.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the overall culture of Alma Public Schools.
• Teach one period of 9–12 Band, 7–8 Band, 5/6 Band, 9–12 Vocal, 7–8 Vocal for approximately 25 minutes, 2–3 days a week. Extra duty opportunities may be available.

• Appropriate Nebraska certification required.

Class periods are 51 minutes long (Monday–Thursday) and 41 minutes on activity days (usually Fridays and before most vacations). School day: 8:00 a.m. – 3:41 p.m. (Monday–Thursday) and 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Fridays). School year: 183 days contract (178 student days & 5 teacher workdays), starting mid‑August and running through mid‑May.

• Fall Break: 1 day
• Thanksgiving: 3 days
• Christmas: approximately two weeks
• Winter Break: 1 day
• Spring Break: two consecutive weekends (2½ days each)
• Easter Break: 2 days

Salary: $45,600 – $77,000 (based on placement on the 2026–2027 salary schedule). Salary potential ranges from approximately $45,000 to $77,000.
