Employment Status & Training Requirements
This is a full-time, hourly position and may require more than 40 hours/week. Teachers must be able to pass a background check, and they must possess the credentials to be employed at an HHS certified child care facility. This includes the following trainings:
Infant & Adult CPR/First Aid, Safe With You, and will work towards completely all the Early Learning Guidelines.
Essential Duties
- Maintain ALL confidentiality for children, families, staff, and program.
- Understand, plan, and implement developmentally appropriate environments and curriculum for children birth through age 5.
- Promote nurturing and bonding relationships.
- Encourage self help skills and provide consistent routines
- Work with families to identify goals, strengths, and needs to assist children in a process that leads them towards self-sufficiency.
- Promote a strong, educational component for parents and families.
- Assist children in establishing good habits of personal hygiene; change diapers/pull-ups regularly so children are comfortable. Assist them with toileting.
- Develop weekly lesson plans
- Communicate with parents on a regular basis; maintain daily communication of the child's day and log them into Brightwheel software for parents to see.
- Attend and participate in children's IEP and IFSP meetings
- Maintain a clean and organized room
- Attend parent and center functions
- Help director with duties when able to and look for ways to better the center as a whole
- Be assertive with the support staff and paras helping in classroom. Be able to give them constructive criticism when needed and support them in problem solving
- If applicable Utilize Creative Curriculum, Early Learning Guidelines which includes observing and recording children's growth, development and behaviors.
- Safely lift children or children with total weight of up to 50 lbs.
- Conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking, and moderate sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, twisting, and reaching on a frequent basis.
- Work with hands above shoulder height with a weight up to 20 pounds
- Work with arms extended at shoulder height with a weight up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and kneel on the floor without assistance
- Push and or pull playground equipment, art supplies, manipulate office equipment, etc.
- Work with the children on gross motor skills outside in all elements of weather
